Tim, I think smoothies should be a lot better because it still has the fiber, but I haven't seen any good studies on them. Could excessive blending break down the fiber? Not sure! Watch this space!

Thanks for this article. Useful as usual.

I also think the photo of the young woman drinking a green beverage with a dubious look on her face was a good choice.

A little side-eye for science…

I’m relieved to find out that I don’t have to juice things. I like my burgers solid, thank you very much!

So how about blended smoothies with all of the fruit and veggie parts included? And maybe a couple scoops of protein? I happen to know those can be quite tasty, but should we be eating those as solids instead?

HI Scott, just like the once I have read earlier, superb article. Learning that juicing ain't older than the 30's was an eye opener.

But here's my query - I have in due time realized that I need oranges for good health. Probably, to maintain my Ph level. Lime n others don't work. So, I am heavy on packaged orange juice. Even if I want to agree with the logic of eating whole fruits, fruits are so costly here. And oranges, they are costly enough to make me shiver even wanting to buy oranges. In figures, for the price of a kg, I can buy 3 litres of packaged orange juice (when discounted).

That’s a problem, but you can mitigate the situation by getting full-pulp OJ, which has a lot of the fiber and polyphenols still intact. Good luck!
