I need to read this paper!! Are you saying that even with the same genetic markers for OCD, certain microbes alter the risk for OCD symptoms/diagnosis?
Quick question: do we have any evidence that OCPD (obsessive-compulsive personality traits) is influenced by the gut–brain axis the way OCD appears to be? I know OCPD ≠ OCD (trait-level rigidity/perfectionism vs. obsessions+compulsions), but I’m curious whether microbiome/inflammation/serotonergic pathways show up in OCPD too—or if this area is mostly unstudied.
Walton, it's understudied, but there is evidence for microbial dysfunction in OCPD as well as OCD. More studies, please!
Thanks so much—that’s super helpful. Good to know there’s emerging evidence in OCPD too. Understudied but promising—+1 to more studies!

Loved this piece—clear and nuanced.
